Campinas, SP, 25 – Após levar uma goleada de 5 a 0 do Japão e às vésperas do confronto com a Espanha pela Copa do Mundo feminina, a seleção de Zâmbia teve uma terça-feira tumultuada. A entrevista coletiva do técnico Bruce Mwape foi encerrada antes do previsto após perguntas de jornalistas sobre a acusação de abuso sexual que ele enfrenta na Justiça do seu país. As próprias jogadoras da seleção africana seriam supostas vítimas do caso.
A primeira pergunta sobre o tema chegou a ser vetada por um oficial de mídia da Fifa, mas Mwape decidiu responder a um segundo questionamento sobre o tema. O treinador foi perguntado se a sua saída do cargo seria positiva para a seleção zambiana.
“Que ambiente afeta a equipe? Do que você está falando? Gostaria de saber porque não tem como eu me aposentar sem motivo. Talvez a razão (para a sua pergunta) seja por aquilo que você está lendo na mídia ou na imprensa, mas a verdade sobre o assunto deverá aparecer, não apenas rumores”, afirmou o treinador.
ENTREVISTA INTERROMPIDA
Novas perguntas foram vetadas na sequência, até que oficiais de mídia decidiram pelo encerramento da entrevista coletiva. Muitos jornalistas não puderam fazer questões sobre o treinador. A acusação, revelada pelo jornal inglês The Guardian, veio à tona no início deste mês, às vésperas do Mundial.
Uma jogadora, que preferiu não se identificar, confirmou a denúncia: “Se ele (Mwape) quiser dormir com alguém, você tem que dizer sim… É normal que o treinador durma com as jogadoras em nossa equipe”, disse ao The Guardian. Além de Mwape, Kaluba Kangwa, treinador da seleção sub-17, também está entre os funcionários investigados. A Associação de Futebol da Zâmbia encaminhou o caso para a Fifa, que está coordenando as investigações desde setembro do ano passado.
Mwape foi nomeado técnico da Zâmbia em 2018 e o levou a equipe para a sua primeira Copa do Mundo neste ano, na Austrália e na Nova Zelândia. De acordo com os relatos de jogadoras, o treinador as coagia a ter relações sexuais para continuar jogando pelo seu país.
