Líder absoluto do Brasileirão com 24 pontos em 10 rodadas, frutos de oito vitórias, o Botafogo vem se destacando sob a direção do português Luís Casto, antes vilão e que agora caiu nas graças do torcedor. Satisfeito com o futebol apresentado por seus comandados, o treinador garantiu após os 2 a 0 sobre o Fortaleza, no Engenhão, que sua equipe vai sempre buscar a vitória, independentemente do adversário que estiver do outro lado.

Apesar de soar como excesso de confiança, as palavras do comandante mostram bem o que a equipe vem fazendo no Brasileirão. A campanha é muito boa e tem vitórias contra rivais de pesos, caso de Atlético-MG, Flamengo e Fluminense, que iniciaram a competição entre os candidatos ao título. O Botafogo ainda superou São Paulo, Bahia, Corinthians, América-MG e Fortaleza.
“Jogamos contra qualquer equipe do mundo, contra qualquer adversário para ganhar. E o mês de maio mostrou isso. Jogamos sempre de igual para igual, olho no olho. Algumas vezes sofremos, outras fomos mais fortes e ganhamos”, afirmou o treinador, que não escondia a felicidade por mais três pontos conquistados.
Em um vídeo divulgado nas redes sociais, até o chefão da SAF do clube, o americano John Textor, caiu nas graças do time. Ele aparece pulando entre os jogadores em enorme festa no vestiário por nova vitória e pela manutenção da liderança isolada por mais uma rodada.
Luís Castro, porém, evita esse clima de euforia, com a competição não registrando nem um terço das rodadas, e evita falar sobre quem brigará pelo título. “Está tudo muito no começo, não consigo fazer um balanço do campeonato de forma tão precoce. Sei que tenho uma equipe que quer muito ganhar e isso é o que mais me interessa”, disse, avaliando a apresentação deste sábado à noite.
“Ao longo do jogo fomos controlando as situações, tínhamos como objetivo terminar as jogadas em finalização sempre que estivéssemos no momento ofensivo. A equipe sempre se manteve equilibrada defensivamente, sempre compacta, e fez por merecer o resultado.”
